Established automotive distributor and importer United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) held this week a two-day ride-and-drive media event showcasing its four automotive brands: BAIC, Chery, Foton, and Lynk & Co. The ride and drive, with the theme “Choose your own adventure”, happened on June 24 and 25, taking members of the motoring media on a drive from Metro Manila to ACEA Beach Resort in Subic.
This inaugural event is a first for UAAGI, wherein all four car brands were represented, and with a total of fourteen (14) vehicle test drives made up a combination of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, full electric vehicles, diesel hybrids, and ICE models available for the motoring media.
“Showcasing our four brands through a 14 car test drive vehicle line-up, featuring our latest models and variants in one driving event is a way for us at UAAGI to highlight our diverse selection of modern, safe, and technologically advanced vehicles. We’re confident that with a ride and drive like this, we are able to create excitement in the local market and continue to communicate our brands’ strengths and shine a light on their on-road performance and driving dynamics," says Lyn Buena, UAAGI Chief Marketing Executive and SVP.
Each brand showcased a unique brand handle and theme for this ride and drive event:
"New Energy Vibe" for Chery, which fielded three electrified crossovers in the Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV, the Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV, and the EQ7.
"Rough It Out" for Foton, which featured four groundbreaking pickups in the Tunland V7, Tunland V9, Thunder Outback, and the fully electric Thunder EV.
"Off-Road Premium" for BAIC, which showcased its distinctive SUVs in the B40 Ragnar, B60 Beaumont, and B80 Wagon as well as its X55 Verve crossover.
And "Make An Impression" for Lynk & Co, which rolled out its array of premium crossovers in the 01 PHEV, 05 AWD Fastback SUV, and 06 SUV.
Part of UAAGI’s “Choose Your Own Adventure” ride and drive event was a visit the Foton plant in Pampanga. Foton Motor Philippines Inc. (FMPI) General Manager Levy Santos welcomed the media delegates and led the factory tour on board three Foton F29 Modern Jeepney units.
"Foton has the distinction of being the first and so far only global automotive brand to set up operations inside Clark. The assembly plant sits on an 11-hectare area and is capable of producing 12,000 vehicles annually. FMPI employs a workforce of 700 employees and has been ISO-certified since 2019," Levy Santos proudly declared.
UAAGI also prepared branded activities for the members of the media to choose from: the BAIC Matchpoint Club offering pickleball games; Chery Gamecube where Foosball, Table tennis and Billiards were made available; the Foton Bike Trail, where media could go out on a mountain bike ride around the resort; and a drinks mixing course via Lynk & Co’s Mixology seminar.
"Our goal at UAAGI for this activity was to communicate the many features and advantages of the vehicles from our four brands. UAAGI’s stable of auto brands–BAIC, Chery, Foton, Lynk & Co–offers a comprehensive selection of various vehicle types suited for Filipino car buyers. Each brand offers a specific set of features, benefits, and after sales services, and this event is a showcase of how we at UAAGI are utilizing the variety of our offerings to address the ever changing needs of modern Filipino motorists,” says Froilan Dytianquin, UAAGI Group Managing Director.
It was a fun-filled two days, but more than fun, the drive proved to be an engaging product deep dive experience for the media as they got up close and personal with the diverse yet highly capable vehicles from BAIC, Chery, Foton,, and Lynk & Co.
The seamless drive was further enhanced by UAAGI’s partnership with Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC,) where the convoy traversed the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) while passing through modern RFID toll gates.
